Psy to give a speech at Harvard on how he became a global star
On May 9, Psy will be standing in front of a crowd from Harvard University in the United States to deliver a speech.
On its official website, Harvard posted on May 7, “Korean pop trailblazer PSY will speak at Harvard on Thursday. Best known for his 2012 smash hit “Gangnam Style,” the multiplatinum single that merged Korean flavor with global pop panache, PSY has mesmerized critics and fans worldwide with his enigmatic dance moves and unforgettable presence.”
Last November, Psy gave a speech in the prestigious Oxford University in England, and now he is in the United States for another opportunity.
Initially his special lecture was to be held in Tsai Auditorium, where it can hold 200 students within the Harvard Campus, but as more than 1,400 people submitted their application to attend the lecture, the entire event has been moved to the Memorial Church where 800 people can be seated. Memorial Church is a venue where world-renown people like Dalai Lama, Seth Macfarlane and former Vice President Al Gore delivered special lectures.
Psy received an invitation from Harvard, and he is planning on telling his story of the 13-year journey that put him on a global stardom.
Psy is currently in the United States. Apart from promoting his latest mega-hit song “Gentleman,” he has also received an award and met up with a fellow South Korean baseballer Ryu Hyun-jin, and has been appearing on American television shows. Recently he was on ABC’s Live with Kelly and Michael for an interview and to dance his “arrogant dance” along with his new song. Meanwhile, his new music video will soon reach 300 million views.
Psy’s special lecture will be held on May 9 at 6:30 p.m., and will be streamed online within Harvard’s streaming channel.
