[헤럴드경제=고승희 기자] LISA from group BLACKPINK set a new K-POP record with her performance video. Her video reached 500 million views in the shortest time ever.
According to YG Entertainment on the 16th, LISA’s ‘MONEY Exclusive Performance Video’ reached 500 million views on YouTube as of 11:28 PM. The feat comes after 173 days since it was released on the 24th of September. This record was reached in the shortest amount of time, when comparing it other choreography videos of K-POP artists who also reached 500 million views.
The previous record holder was BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ choreography video which currently has over 1 billion views. LISA reached this feat 10 days earlier, going above and beyond the record held by her group, BLACKPINK.
Meanwhile, ’MONEY’ which was listed on LISA’s first solo-album ‘LALISA’ features rap lyrics full of swag based on a trendy hip-hop sound. The song rose to the top of major music charts around the world, a month after it was released. Global short-form platform TikTok played a huge role in the song’s reversed popularity, as it was used as the BGM for TikTok videos related to ‘Squid Game’, when the Netflix series showed explosive popularity around the world. The song later entered global charts.
‘MONEY’ topped the iTunes Song Chart in 38 countries and took the 5th place on Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform. It then stayed in the UK’s official Single Top 100, U.S.‘ Bililboard Hot 100, and POP airplay Chart for 8, 2, and 3 consecutive weeks respectively. LISA eventually earned the title of ’first among K-POP female solos’ with all her feat.
