YG TREASURE Takes Second Crown at Gaon’s Monthly Chart…‘Rewrites Their Own Record’
[OSEN=지민경 기자] YG mega group TREASURE took the second crown at Gaon’s februrary chart.
According to Gaon Chart which is run by Korea Music Content Association, TREASURE’s ‘THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ took the first spot on both the Monthly Album Chart for February, and the Retail Album Chart.
Their album which was released on February 15th had previously took the first spot of Hanteo and Gaon Chart’s Weekly Album category. They then proved their global popularity by taking over the Oricon Weekly Album Chart, which is Japan’s largest music site, and Billboard Japan’s ‘HOT ALBUM’ and ‘TOP ALBUM SALES’ chart.
Meanwhile, TREASURE’s ‘THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ sold more than 700,000 copies so far. At the time of release, the album had topped the iTumes chart in 30 different countries, and eventually climped up to the first spot of the Worldwide Chart, showing how fast their popularity is spreading.
TREASURE is also rewriting history not only with their album records, but with their song and YouTube as well. Their title-song ‘JIKJIN’ swept major Japanese music charts such as Line Music, Apple Music, iTunes, AWA, Rakuten, and mu-mo.
Not only did they enter the ‘Billboard Global 200’ chart, but they also successfully entered the ‘Billboard Global Excl. U.S.’ for 3 consecutive weeks. The M/V for ‘JIKJIN’ has almost reached 60 million views, running the popularity road in the fastest speed since their debut.
