TREASURE Tops Line Music Weekly Chart, the Biggest Music Site in Japan
[한국경제TV=유병철 기자] YG megal group TREASURE took the first place of Japan’s Line Music Weekly Chart. This is the 5th time they’ve placed first in Japan’s major music platforms, without any promotional activities in Japan.
According to YG Entertainment on the 23rd, the title-song for TREASURE’s title-song ‘JIKJIN’ took the first place at Line Music Weekly Chart (2022.02.16.~2022.02.22.일). They jumped right to the top of the chart as soon as the song was released on the 15th, and succeed in taking over the chart for 6 days. They eventually ‘JIKJIN’ their way through the top of the weekly chart too.
TREASURE has been seeing consistent popularity in major music charts, not just Line Music. ‘JIKJIN’ had previously taken the first spot of Apple Music, iTunes, AWA, Rakuten Music, and mu-mo, and continues to maintain their upper position in the charts.
TREASURE received attention as YG’s mega rookie targeting the global market. Even before their official debut in Japan last year, ‘BOY’, ‘I LOVE YOU’, ‘MMM’, ‘MY TREASURE’ had all taken the first spot at major music charts.
In particular, ‘BOY’, and ‘MY TREASURE’ was on the top of the Line Music Weekly Chart for two consecutive weeks, and the Japanese animation theme song ‘BEAUTIFUL’ sung by TREASURE also placed first, which is an unusual feat.
Meanwhile, TREASURE has been setting new records every second with their first mini-album ‘THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ released on the 15th. The album took the first place on the iTunes chart in 30 countries the day it was released, placing themselves on the top of the Worldwide Album Chart. They have currently sold more than 700,000 album copies. The M/V for ‘JIKJIN’ has almost reached 35 million views, which is the fastest pace of popularity since their debut.
