“Comeback on 15th of February” TREASURE Exceeds 600,000 Copies in Pre-orders…Proof of Growth as Artist
[엑스포츠뉴스=이슬 기자] Group TREASURE signaled a spectacular comeback even before releasing their album by already reaching a self-record as a group.
According to YG Entertainment on the 20th, TREASURE’s new album ‘THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER ONE’ which is currently on pre-sales reached 600,000 copies as of the day before.
This feat comes 8 days after pre-sales began on the 11th. Considering how only the members’ visual concept teaser has been released so, and that it’s a mini-album where the track list hasn’t been revealed, this feat draws attention as it shows how much growth they’ve made so far.
The 3 albums TREASURE released in a row in the first year of their debut sold 240,000~280,000 copies, and their first full album sold approximately 360,000 copies. The 600,000 pre-orders is almost double the amount TREASURE recorded for their individual albums.
As promotion activities have begun in earnest, and there is still about a month left until the release of the physical album, the final volume in orders is expected to increase even more. YG decided to produce additional albums of TREASURE to meet the enthusiastic support of fans both home and abroad. Attention is now being drawn to what new records they will break.
TREASURE will be releasing ‘THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER ONE’ on the 15th of February. Fans’ anticipation is rising as even more activities are expected than before as more songs are contained in the album. YG had previously said “Please look forward to TREASURE’s ‘seconds step’ that will take over the year”.
TREASURE who had their debut in August 2020 received attention from the public as they were the rookie group YG introduced in about four years since BLACKPINK, and a group which targeted the global market from the very start. Since then, they’ve made their presence clear as a global rising star by selling more than 1.1 million copies in total for their albums with the solid musical abilities, producing ability, and friendly charms.
