[연합뉴스=김효정 오보람 기자] Over 1.7 million fans gathered to watch group BLACKPINK’s live broadcast, held to celebrate their 5-year debut anniversary.
According to YG Entertainment on August 9, BLACKPINK’s hour-long live broadcast held on Naver V LIVE has gathered 1.76M simultaneous viewers.
BLACKPINK shared their thoughts on their 5-year debut anniversary and their gratitude towards their fans.
LISA stated, “I’ve grown and aged with our members” and added, “I can’t believe 5 years has passed already and I still feel like a rookie, but the anniversary makes me realize it really did happen”.
JISOO stated, “It’s been almost 10 years since us 4 members have been together” and hoped, “I’d like to make more good memories with the fans when the situation eases, and hope to meet our fans in person in our 6-year debut anniversary”.
JENNIE earnestly stated, “Rather than being sad or emotional on the current situation, I would like us to think about our future”.
She continued, “We couldn’t have been happier over the times we’ve spent” and added, “We’re lucky to have you by our side in our journey”.
ROSÉ stated, “I’ve made great memories for the past 5 years, and I feel that every moment will last in my memory forever”. She continued, “I’m happy to have experienced many events together, and I thank you for staying by our side and showing us love”.
BLACKPINK is releasing various contents to celebrate their 5-year debut anniversary.
They’ve released a photobook, presented an exhibition, and even opened their own island ‘InYouArea’ on the popular VR game, ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’.
They’ve also produced a film called ‘BLACKPINK THE MOVIE’, which premiered on the 4th through CGV nationwide and in over 100 countries worldwide. The movie gathered about 160 thousand audience on its premiere date, proving the group’s ticket power.
After making debut with the single ‘SQUARE ONE’, BLACKPINK has established themselves as the representative K-Pop girl group with both popularity and a sturdy fandom.
After releasing continuous hits, the group entered US Billboard’s main charts including the ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ with their album ‘SQUARE UP’ and its title track ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ back in 2018, receiving the attention from global fans.
They’ve kept on renewing their own records in various music charts and was ranked at no. 2 on the Billboard 200 last year with their first-ever full-length album, for the first time in 12 years as a girl group.
