YG TREASURE Wins Rookie Artist Award at the ‘Golden Disk Awards’
[동아닷컴=정희연 기자] YG TREASURE won another rookie award at a major awards ceremony a day prior to their comeback, exciting the global fans.
At the ‘35th Golden Disk Awards with Curaprox’(hereby Golden Disk Awards) held on January 10, TREASURE won the Rookie Artist Award in the albums category.
TREASURE’s leader JIHOON revealed his thoughts by stating, “I’m happy we received such a precious award on our first-ever participation on the ‘Golden Disk Awards’” and added, “I would like to tell our Treasure Makers(fandom) that we’re grateful for your support and that we love you”.
Like a group targeting the global music industry should, YOSHI shared his thoughts in Japanese. He promised, “We will remember the meaning of this award, full of your love and anticipation, and will try to become TREASURE that always remember our first intentions and give you strength”.
TREASURE proved their amazing capabilities once again through their performance at the ‘Golden Disk Awards’. Beginning the performance with the piano version of ‘I LOVE YOU’, TREASURE presented their performance of ‘BOY’, reinterpreted in sophisticated sounds, which showed off their strengthened teen-crush charms and Hip-hop swag.
They also revealed the signal song ‘GOING CRAZY’ from the survival program ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ which created TREASURE for the first time through an awards ceremony, which was a huge gift for the fans. It was a moment which the viewers were able to see TREASURE’s growth in music, as they filled up the stage with their strong ‘group dance’ and presence.
TREASURE is receiving positive reviews and praises from global fans by presenting remix versions of their representative songs along with new choreography through award ceremonies. Despite their busy schedule due to new song preparations and their unprecedented comeback period, which is almost every month, the group is staying up all night to practice new moves, showing their hard-working aspects as a rookie group.
The reactions on TREASURE’s performance at the Golden Disk Awards were heated. ‘TREASURE’ became the no. 1 real-time searched keyword list on major Korean portal sites, while related hashtags became the real-time K-Pop trend on Twitter.

Under YG’s fast·concentrated strategy, YG has released 3 single albums since their debut last year on August, leading to successful activities. Due to their success, TREASURE is dominating rookie awards at various major award ceremonies. TREASURE has won the Rookie of the Year awards at the ‘2020 Asia Artist Awards’ and the ‘2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards’ prior to winning the Rookie Artist Award at the ‘Golden Disk Awards’.
Meanwhile, TREASURE’s official debut album ‘THE FIRST STEP : TREASURE EFFECT’ will be released on the 11th at 6 PM. The album includes a total of 12 tracks, while TREASURE plans to meet the fans 2 hours prior to the release of their album, on the 11th at 4 PM, through the Naver V LIVE ‘COUNTDOWN PARTY’.
