[스포티비뉴스=김원겸 기자] BLACKPINK will appear on Netflix’s first-ever K-Pop documentary.

According to YG Entertainment on September 9, the documentary ‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ will be exclusively released on Netflix on October 14.

The documentary will present BLACKPINK’s past 4 years, which they have busily spent after making debut back in 2016. The documentary will present exclusive videos from their trainee days to their growth as global stars today, in addition to their accommodation life and backstage footage.

Furthermore, the documentary will show how ‘BLACKPINK’ create synergy effects as artists and how they apply their individual lives in the process through an honest interview of the 4 members, in addition to their album recording process.

‘BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky’ was directed by Caroline Suh, known for her well-made documentary titled ‘Salt Fat Acid Heat’. It is said that Caroline Suh captured BLACKPINK’s honest and natural moments based on her good relationship with the members of BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK shared their thoughts on the documentary by stating, “We look forward to sharing our stories with BLINK(fan club) all over the world through a Netflix documentary” and added, “We hope that the documentary will give viewers joy”.

Adam Del Deo, Netflix’s VP documentary features, stated that “We are happy to work with BLACKPINK, the most popular girl group in the world”. He added, “We are thrilled to bring their honest story to BLACKPINK fans and the viewers of Netflix”.

BLACKPINK has been raising their global presence by releasing songs continuously this year. After warming up by releasing ‘Sour Candy’ with Lady Gaga on May, their two pre-release singles ‘How You Like That’ and ‘Ice Cream’ became hits, proving the group’s strong global presence.

The song ‘Ice Cream’ entered this week’s ‘Hot 100’ chart announced by Billboard as no. 13 on the 8th, renewing the group’s own best K-Pop girl group record. The song was also dominantly ranked at no. 1 on YouTube Music’s Global Top 100 chart.

BLACKPINK will release their first official debut album titled ‘THE ALBUM’ on October 2, in 4 years since they made debut. The album has already received over 800 thousand pre-orders in 6 days since pre-sales began last month on the 28th.
