[일간스포츠=황지영 기자] BLACKPINK set another ‘fastest record in K-Pop history’ on YouTUbe with their ‘How You Like That’ MV. Their MV for ‘Ice Cream’ also surpassed 200M views in 10 days soon after. The two pre-release singles released prior to their official debut album are receiving popularity from the public.
According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ MV surpassed 500M views on YouTube on the 8th at 3:51 AM. It is the fastest record in K-Pop MV history to reach 500M views, which was achieved in approximately 73 days.
BLACKPINK’s MVs for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ and ‘Kill This Love’ have recently surpassed 1.3B and 1B views. BLACKPINK, the only K-Pop group with 2 MVs with over 1B views, currently have videos that will soon join the collection, including ‘BOOMBAYAH’(920M) and ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’(860M).
‘Kill This Love’, released last year on April, reached 500M views in 111 days. BLACKPINK shortened their own record with ‘How You Like That’ by 40 days, setting a new milestone. The song ‘How You Like That’ is receiving support from many global fans with its powerful beat and the message of ‘Let’s rise despite any hardships’. The song received the ‘Song of the Summer’ award at the 2020 US MTV Video Music Awards and was ranked at no. 1 on YouTube’s ‘Global Top Summer Song’ list, proving the group’s global popularity.
The MV for their latest single ‘Ice Cream’ also surpassed 200M views on YouTube on the same date at 2:06 AM. The record was achieved in 10 days and 13 hours since its release on the 28th. It is the second fastest record following ‘How You Like That’ which has reached the according record in a week.
‘Ice Cream’ is a song with cute and fresh concepts by Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK, who are known for their strong performances and girl0crush charms. Considering that the group hasn’t been performing or engaging on promotional activities, the results are phenomenal.
BLACKPINK is reviewed to have expanded their global fandom and musical spectrum through their single ‘Ice Cream’, by creating a positive synergy effect with Selena Gomez, following their participation on Lady Gaga’s Sour Candy’ as featuring artists. Using the momentum, the group will release their debut official album titled ‘THE ALBUM’ on October 2. It is expected to be a legendary K-Pop girl group album, as orders have already surpassed 800 thousand in 6 days since pre-orders became available last month on the 28th.
