BLACKPINK JENNIE Surpasses 200 Million Streams of Spotify with ‘SOLO’… ‘First Time’ as a Korean Female Solo Artist
[OSEN=김은애 기자] BLACKPINK JENNIE became the first-ever Korean female solo artist to surpass 200 million streams on Spotify.
Today(2nd), JENNIE’s solo track ‘SOLO’ surpassed 200 million streams on Spotify, the world’s biggest music platform. It was the first record set by a Korean female solo artist.
JENNIE released ‘SOLO’ on November 2018 as the first runner of BLACKPINK’s solo project. ‘SOLO’ is a song in Hip-hop genre incorporating elements of Pop music. The beautiful chords on the intro, the simple melody line, and the honest yet direct lyrics which state a confident solo who is not bound to sadness after a breakup make the song charming.
JENNIE has a strong global influence as a solo artist. ‘SOLO’ topped real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major Korean music platforms, topped iTunes charts in 40 different countries and regions, topped the iTunes Worldwide Song chart for the first time as a Korean female solo artist, and even entered the US iTunes Top 10, proving her global ‘god JENNIE power’.
JENNIE also set the ‘fastest’ record in history with her MV for ‘SOLO’ The song surpassed 100 million views on YouTube in 23 days since the video was released, setting the fastest record in Korean female solo artist history. The video has recently surpassed 400 million views, continuing its record march along with BLACKPINK’s ‘over 100M’ video collection.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK, the group JENNIE is part of, surpassed 1.1 billion YouTube views with their music video for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ last month on the 24th, setting a milestone in K-Pop group history. Furthermore, the group won the ‘Most-Streamed KPOP Female Artist’ award at the first-ever Spotify Awards held last month in Mexico City, proving their global influence.
