[OSEN=지민경기자] BLACKPINK proved their global popularity by being charted on Billboard’s main charts for 2 consecutive weeks and UK’s Official Chart for 3 consecutive weeks.

According to UK’s Official Chart on the 26th(local time), BLACKPINK’s latest song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ was ranked at no. 55 on the ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’.

BLACKPINK entered the according chart as no. 33 after the release of ‘KILL THIS LOVE’, renewing their own best record while setting the most successful record in K-Pop girl group history. They were at no. 48 last week.

UK’s ‘Official Chart’ is known as one of the two biggest music charts in the world, along with US ‘Billboard’. Considering the fact that UK’s Official Chart is known to be more conservative among the two, BLACKPINK’s record of being charted on the according chart for 3 consecutive weeks holds a great meaning.

After entering UK’s ‘Official Singles Top 100’ for the first time as a K-Pop girl group last year with ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, BLACKPINK set another milestone.

BLACKPINK’s popularity is steady. They have entered Billboard’s main charts for 2 consecutive weeks for the first time as a K-Pop girl group, setting a new record. While ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ and their EP album with the same title entered the ‘Billboard 200’ and the ‘Hot 100’ as no. 24 and no. 41 respectively, they were charted on the ‘Billboard 200’ as no. 93 and on the ‘Hot 100’ as no. 73 on April 23.

US Forbes spotlighted the group’s success by referring to their achievement as a ‘remarkable success’. They added, “While the group(BLACKPINK) proved how popular they are by renewing their own best records, they also continued their winning streak by ‘entering Billboard’s main single chart for 2 consecutive weeks’”.

While receiving good news from representative music charts of the US and the UK, BLACKPINK is currently on their North America tour. Starting with their concert in Los Angeles held on April 19, they are communicating with the local fans of the US. After successfully completing their concert in Chicago on April 24 with the fans’ heated reactions, BLACKPINK will now head to Hamilton and meet their Canadian fans on the 27th.
