BLACKPINK at No. 33 on UK’s Official Singles Chart, ‘Best Record Since Debut’

[한국경제=유병철 기자] BLACKPINK entered the UK Official Singles Chart with the best record ever since debut.
According to UK Official Charts on the 12th(local time), BLACKPINK’s new EP album ‘Kill This Love’ was placed at no. 33 on the Official Singles Chart Top 100 and no. 40 on the Album Chart Top 100.
Official Charts celebrated BLACKPINK through their official Twitter by writing, “’Kill This Love’ became the highest-ranked BLACKPINK single of all time”.
The UK Official Chart is known as two of the biggest Pop charts along with US Billboard. BLACKPINK has previously been ranked at the according chart as no. 78 with their song, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’. They also grabbed the people’s attention by being ranked at no. 36 with their collaborative song with Dua Lipa, titled ‘Kiss and Make Up’.
Entering the UK Official Singles Chart as no. 33 is surpassing the aforementioned records. While BLACKPINK’s rise in global popularity is apparent, the people are paying keen attention on the group’s upcoming promotional activities in the US.
On April 13 at 12:30 PM(KST), BLACKPINK will perform at ‘Coachella Festival’, the biggest music festival of the US, for the first time as a K-Pop idol group. Their performance at Coachella will be streamed live through a large-scale billboard in Times Square, New York and can also be live-streamed through YouTube.
BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ is setting milestones after its release on the 5th. The song topped iTunes Song Charts in 37 different regions, including the US. They became the first K-Pop girl group to top the US iTunes Song Chart.
Furthermore, the MV for ‘Kill This Love’ became the most watched video on YouTube in the first 24 hours, while setting another world record by surpassing 100 million views in 2 days and 14 hours since its release.
The choreography video of ‘Kill This Love’ revealed on the 9th is receiving heated reactions from fans and has surpassed 20 million views in 4 days since it was revealed to the public. BLACKPINK, who has 5 choreography videos with over 100 million views, is expected to add another video with the record to their collection through ‘Kill This Love’.
