iKON’s MV For Their New Song ‘KILLING ME’ Surpasses 10 Million Views in 3 Days

[매일경제 스타투데이=이다겸 기자] Group iKON’s ‘KILLING ME’ is performing well not only in Korean charts, but also in Japanese and Chinese music charts.

iKON’s mini album ‘NEW KIDS : CONTINUE’ released on the 2nd topped music charts in China and Japan. ‘NEW KIDS : CONTINUE’ debuted on Japan’s iTunes Album Chart as no. 1, while maintaining their top position in the K-Pop album chart. They’ve achieved great results in Japan following their no. 1 on iTunes Charts in 24 different countries including Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore, and Vietnam. 

The song ‘KILLING ME’ also topped Kugou Music’s K-Pop New Releases Chart as soon as the song was released, and is currently maintaining its top position as of August 6. The group proved their popularity in China even without special promotional activities. 

Also, the MV for ‘KILLING ME’ surpassed 10 million views on YouTube, in 3 days since the video was released. It proved the attention of global fans towards iKON, and the group’s global popularity.

The song is continuing to receive love from Korean fans as well. ‘KILLING ME’ is currently ranked at the top positions in various music platforms, displaying iKON’s status as an artist.

Furthermore, various parodies of the ‘KILLING ME Challenge’ are spreading through social media sites all over the word. The ‘KILLING ME Challenge’ refers to combining daily phrases such as ‘Too good it’s killing me’, ‘Too hot it’s killing me’, and ‘Too fin it’s killing me’ with the MV for ‘KILLING ME’ and sharing it through social media.

iKON’s new mini album ‘NEW KIDS:CONTINUE’ contains a total of 5 tracks including the title song ‘KILLING ME’, sub-title song ‘FREEDOM’, ONLY YOU, ‘COCKTAIL’, and ‘JUST FOR YOU’. 

The song ‘KILLING ME’ was written and composed by B.I. The vintage piano tone and sophisticated riffs composed of pluck synths illustrate the lonely emotions one feel after having a farewell with a lover. The song also displays iKON’s sharp choreography. Bouncing the pelvis or nodding one’s finger and head are one of the key moves from the choreography for ‘KILLING ME’. 

iKON is also planning yo meet the fans through a concert. After kicking off the ‘iKON 2018 CONTINUE TOUR’ on August 18 at 5 PM in Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena, iKON will perform in cities including Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and Hong Kong.
