iKON At No. 1 in Weekly Charts For 5 Consecutive Weeks… Will Release New Single ‘RUBBER BAND’ Today
[SBS funE=이정아 기자] iKON set another milestone by maintaining their no. 1 spot in weekly charts for 5 consecutive weeks, along with their no. 1 march in real-time charts for 40 consecutive days.
Based on the chart results announced on March 5, the title song ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ from iKON’s 2nd official album was placed at no. 1 in 7 different weekly charts in platforms including Melon, Mnet, Genie, Soribada, Bugs, Olleh, and Naver.
While writing a new history of boy-groups in Korea in the past 10 years, iKON noticed more activities in Korea by announcing the release of their new single, ‘RUBBER BAND’. Their bold move of unexpectedly releasing a new single can be interpreted as a reward to the fans, and their confidence in the new song.
The song ‘RUBBER BAND’ metaphorically compares the relationship between lovers at crisis as a rubber band, that is stretched out so much that it can fall apart at any given time. The emotions described in the lyrics and the cute chorus will capture the ears of listeners. iKON’s leader and producer B.I and MINO from iKON’s brother group WINNER collaborated in the creation of the song.
Members of iKON stated that the new song has ‘legendary choreography’, and that it made the members “sore in the neck, calves, and feet”, raising expectations.
iKON achieved their best record with the song ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ since debut. They achieved the best record among all boy-groups in the past 10 years by dominating real-time, daily, weekly, and monthly charts. They were successful not only in Korea but also overseas, and were placed at no. 1 in 17 different countries. Furthermore, they won 8 trophies in various music broadcasts for the first time.
