iKON Shakes Global Music Industry With Their ‘Comeback’

[OSEN=최나영 기자] The global music industry is paying keen attention to iKON’s new official album, released in 2 years.

iKON’s 2nd official album ‘RETUN’ was placed at no. 1 in Japan’s iTunes Album Chart on January 27. The chart which iKON topped didn’t simply include only the K-Pop category, but was a chart including music of all genres, including Japanese artists.

Once again, iKON proved their popularity and influence in Japan, the country with the 2nd largest music industry in the world. 

iKON is also receiving attention in the United States, the country with the largest music industry. The title song ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ was chosen as Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week’ as soon as the album was released.

‘Best of the Week’ selects a globally viral songs chosen by editors of Apple Music in the United States. iKON has proved their global influence and popularity by being selected alongside with world-stars Justin Timberlake, and Migos. 

Billboard, the world’s most authoritative music mass media also praised iKON by stating, “A new album that brings out new energy from the group came out. They display emotional and mature sounds unlike the bright music they have previously released. The stylish and attractive music video is also very impressive”.  

China, a country with a population of 1.4 billion, is also enthusiastic about iKON’s comeback. The music video for ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ was placed at no. 1 in QQ Music on January 27 at 1 PM. As one can see, all 3 countries with the largest music industries in the world are all paying attention to iKON’s comeback. 

iKON is also dominating music charts in Korea, after being placed at no. 1 in iTunes album charts in 17 different countries. The song ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ is maintaining its no. 1 spot for two consecutive days in various real-time charts including Melon, Olleh, Bugs, Genie, and Monkey 3.

iKON, who had their first comeback performance today (27th) at MBC ‘Show! Music Core’ has now begun their promotional activities. They will continue to actively promote their album through not only music broadcasts, but also in variety programs including ‘Knowing Bros’, ‘Weekly Idol’, and many more.
