Along with Harsh Criticism and Unexpected Results, MIXNINE Reveals the Nine Members of the Debut Team

The first episode of JTBC’s MIXNINE was aired on October 29. On the show, YG Entertainment head YANG HYUN SUK set out to meet trainees from all over the country with CL.
The two visited Banana Culture, Yama & Hot Chicks, FM Entertainment, Basecamp, A100, Fave Entertainment, Staro Entertainment and Liveworks to see the trainees.
As seen in SBS’s K Pop Star series, YANG HYUN SUK is all about unexpected decisions, harsh criticism, and an appropriate amount of favorable comments. YANG HYUN SUK visited Bae Yoon Jung’s agency, and although he said that he will choose pretty trainees, his final decision was quite the opposite. Bae Yoon Jung recommended Baek Hyun Joo, who has the looks and the skills, but YANG HYUN SUK said that there’s something missing in her and chose someone else. Bae Yoon Jung cried upon hearing his unexpected decision.
YANG HYUN SUK’s harsh criticism continued. He visited Shinsadong Tiger’s Banana Culture. Two rookies performed live singing and dancing before the judges.
It was clear that YANG HYUN SUK was very disappointed. With a sigh, he said, “What will you do if you lose this chance? When you dance, 80% of the time your face is rigid and so is your body. But I’ve known one of you since you were 15. I’ll let you go on the bus, but this will be your last chance.”
Then, FM Entertainment’s three trainees stole YANG HYUN SUK’s heart out of the blue. After seeing them perform, YANG HYUN SUK commented, “When you three were performing, all of you were singing along and smiling. This is what I tell YG trainees to do.” He let all three trainees go on the bus, and out of the three, Jung Hyun Woo got a seat on the debut team bus.
YANG HYUN SUK also visited Brave Entertainment and met Brave Brothers. It’s the first time the two of them met face to face in ten years. About the rumor that the relationship between has gone sour, YANG HYUN SUK commented frankly “Well to be fair, I do feel uncomfortable. He gets on my nerves a bit.”
YANG HYUN SUK also said, “Brave Brothers gave many songs to singers and all of them turned out well, but the singers that you produced have not. It’s sad.” Brave Brothers nodded in agreement.
However, YANG HYUN SUK was strict about Brave trainees. He said, “As a team, you don’t have any charm.” CL said, “Your singing skills are not good enough. Way not good enough.” Brave Brothers watched this on a monitor and commented, “I think they were nervous. They were much better during practices.” After much thought, YANG HYUN SUK picked Yoo Jin Kyung and gave her a seat on the debut team bus.
There were scenes that reminded the viewers that MIXNINE is a survival show. Even after the trainees got a seat on the debut team bus, their seat was not guaranteed. After nine trainees got on the bus, YANG HYUN SUK picked new trainees, and the ones who were already on the bus got kicked out. YANG HYUN SUK chose two trainees from Staro Entertainment, and because the bus was full, Brave’s Yoo Jin Young and Star Republic’s Jang Hyo Kyung had to leave the bus. The trainees have to be on their toes until the end.
Meanwhile, MIXNINE is a reality competition program on which YANG HYUN SUK visits entertainment agencies across the country in search for new stars. On the show, the contestants compete against each other regardless of gender. In the final round, two groups each consisting of nine boys and nine girls will compete for the chance to debut.
