BLACKPINK celebrates the 1st anniversary of their debut today (Aug. 8). YG Entertainment’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK sent a congratulatory message to BLACKPINK by saying “g#BLACKPINK #20170808 #888 #DEBUT#1YEARANNIVERSARY #YG” on his personal social media account.
Then, the music video of BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last” recorded 100,500,000 views as of August 8 at 8AM. The 100 million view mark was achieved within 46 days of the song’s release, which is the shortest-ever period of time for a K-pop group. The record is all the more meaningful, as it was set on the day of the 1st anniversary of BLACKPINK’s debut.
Now, BLACKPINK has four music videos that have surpassed 100 million views, including those of “WHISTLE”, “BOOMBAYAH”, “PLAYING WITH FIRE”, and finally “As If It’s Your Last”. BLACKPINK has set an unprecedented record of having four music videos that have surpassed 100 million views within one year of debut.

The music video of BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last” released on the 22 last month surpassed 10 million views within 17 hours of release, which was four hours faster than the previous record holder. In addition, the video also surpassed 20 million views 20 hours faster than the previous record holder; 30 million views 45 hours faster; 40 million views 46 hours faster; 50 million views 123 hours faster; and 60 million views 197 hours faster than the previous record holder. By surpassing 70 million views 346 hours faster than the previous record holder, BLACKPINK has renewed all the records of the biggest number of views within the shortest period of time.
BLACKPINK set the 80 million views record 18 days faster than the previous K-pop singer who had held the biggest number of views within the shortest-ever period of time; and then 90 million views 21 days faster than the previous record holder, to set another new record.
Furthermore, BLACKPINK renewed One Direction’s record of the biggest number of views (12.5 million) within 24 hours, by reaching the biggest number of views within only 22 hours.
In addition, BLACKPINK took No.1 on the iTunes charts of 18 countries with a single album, which was the first-ever case for a K-pop girl group. BLACKPINK went on to set an unbelievable record for a rookie artist who debuted less than a year ago, being selected as American Apple Music’s “Best of the Week”. As such, BLACKPINK has been setting records of “the first, the shortest period time, and the best” both in and out of the country.
