[Oh!SEN Talk] “Quintuple Crown” WINNER said, “We’re happier now than when we debuted”
[OSEN=김은애 기자] Korea’s music scene is being dominated by WINNER. Group WINNER is achieving record-high number of No.1, sweeping music charts and TV music shows.
WINNER has taken quintuple crown in TV music shows recently and is now staying in high ranks on music charts. Regarding such remarkable success, WINNER said to OSEN on May 1, “We’re happier than when we took our first-ever No.1 after our debut with “empty”.
Notably, WINNER further solidified their presence in the music scene as a team of four members, after going through a crisis last year when one of the members left the team. WINNER said, “We had been through a hard time so far, but since our comeback with the new album, we’ve been happier than ever before”.
Since their comeback after one year and two months of absence from the music scene, WINNER is now presenting themselves to the public more actively than ever before. YG singers usually give performances for a new album for about a month, but WINNER has decided to perform for their new album until the end of this May. WINNER will meet fans in a variety of channels including TV music shows, radio shows, and events. Such decision was made based on a strong resolution of YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK who insisted that WINNER be given an opportunity to pay fans’ great support back.
YANG posted his photo taken with WINNER members in a friendly pose on his Instagram on April 26, with hashtags “WINNER #WINNER #Celebrating quintuple crown #dinner #goodpeople #goodtime #meaningful dinner #flushed group photo #really really deep talk #WINNER and HYUN SUK # YG”.
In SBS Power FM’s radio show “Choi Hwa-jung’s Power Time” aired on the same day, WINNER drew keen attention by saying, “We’re having dinner with Mr. YANG to celebrate (our quintuple crown) tonight. We’ll have really nice food”.
WINNER made a new beginning as a team of four members, on April 4 at 4PM. Even though WINNER had gone through many ups and downs during their absence when one of the members left the team, their new beginning shed a new spotlight on the meaning of the team’s name “WINNER”. WINNER is now setting up a meaningful milestone for their first comeback among diverse projects planned for this year.
