[Interview] WINNER Says, “It was hard after NAM TAEHYUN left the team, but we don’t want him erased in the hearts of our fans.”
[OSEN=김은애 기자] WINNER had a rough time in its third year. One of the members, NAM TAEHYUN, left the group due to health reasons. It was a difficult time for all the members, but they didn’t blame him or fall into despair. Now, they have made comeback looking more gorgeous than ever.
WINNER released “‘REALLY REALLY” and “FOOL” online at 4 PM on April 4 breaking their 14-month hiatus. On the same day, WINNER members did an interview to talk about their comeback and how they’ve been in Seokyo-dong, Seoul.
After NAM TAEHYUN left in November last year, WINNER became a four-member group. KANG SEUNGYOON said, “He could not be with us for health reasons. It was a very hard time for us. We were worried about our fans. NAM TAEHYUJN had a lot of fans. And he was our main vocalist, so we were worried.”
He went on to say, “Still, you cannot keep on worrying. We felt that we shouldn’t keep our fans waiting any longer. We thought we had to make a comeback soon and started working. I worked hard so that our fans wouldn’t feel we failed to fill NAM TAEHYUN’s shoes. We had to grow as artists.”
KIM JINWOO said, “Because NAM TAEHYUN is no longer on the team, I got to sing more parts. I had to really think about how to approach these parts. I had a lot of singing practices. I got lessons even while we were on the break, and I recorded my singing a number of times. I just kept on practicing and practicing.”
KANG SEUNGYOON said, “We’re a four-member group now and we just have to take things the way they are. I’m sure fans will always have the five-member WINNER in their hearts. I don’t want to erase that. I just hope fans will love the four-member WINNER too.”
