AKMU Chosen as the Most Successful Singer from K-Pop Star
[엑스포츠뉴스=김미지 기자] AKDONG MUSICIAN, or AKMU, was chosen as the most successful singer from SBS’s K-Pop Star.
Panelnow of the online research company DataSpring Korea conducted a survey on its 14,316 panels from February 9 to 13 and asked who they think is the most successful singer from K-Pop Star. AKMU of YG Entertainment got the most votes (8,336 votes, 58.4%).
AKMU, a duo with LEE CHAN HYUK and LEE SU HYUN as members, appeared in the season 2 of K-Pop Star back in 2012. They were just cute siblings from Mongolia, but their unique self-written lyrics and clear vocals won the hearts of the viewers. In the end, they won the competition and joined YG afterwards.
Panels commented, “AKMU is the only singer from K-Pop Star that has won recognition for its musicality and mass appeal” and “AKMU does music that is uniquely theirs and deserves to be called the best K-Pop Star singer”.
Following AKMU, LEE HI got 8.5% of the votes, Baek A-yeon 6.3%, and Kwon Jin-ah 3.9%.
AKMU’s most recent “WINTER” album went viral upon its release in January. AKMU also released a lyrics video of “PLAY UGLY” at 12 AM on February 18. The group is to put on a special stage together with the emcees on SBS’s Inkigayo on February 19.
