[Issue is] YG’s YANG HYUN SUK and Sechs Kies had second meeting… “Photos on YG’s social media channel”
[일간스포츠=엄동진 기자] YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK met the members of Sechs Kies again.
YANG posted a photo on his Instagram on May 2 in the morning. He is making a pose with the members of Sechs Kies at a restaurant. Eun Ji-won is not in the photo, as he was absent due to shooting of “New Journey to the West” show. The date marked in hashtag suggests that the photo was taken in the evening of Saturday after the “Infinite Challenge” show ended.
That was the second time for YANG and the members of Sechs Kies to meet and eat together. Music fans believe that such frequent meeting hints on collaboration between Sechs Kies and YG.
The hashtag of the photo says, “FOREVER Sechs Kies #1st reunion in 16 years #REUNITEDAFTER16YEARS”. Such positive words suggest Sechs Kies members’ strong will to sing and perform again.
A music insider said, “The head of Korea’s biggest music label and Sechs Kies’ members have met twice, not once. This is a remarkable event. I don’t think they met just to eat together. This implies a lot”.
Then, the insider went on to say, “YANG is the president of a listed company, so he should be careful with every little action. Such man posted this photo on his social media channel. This implies that there has been significant progress in the two’s relations. I speculate YG is to carry out a project to revive Sechs Kies, the icon of idol groups in the 1990’s, from YG. I’m personally excited about the possibility of collaboration between Korea’s biggest music label and the best idol group in the 1990’s”.
Sechs Kies is currently drawing a big attention, putting their hit songs on music charts again for the first time in 18 years. Recently, the team performed their hit songs in “The Infinite Challenge” show. Member Go Ji-yong who has never made public appearance since the team’s dissolution in 2000 also came upon the stage with the other members.
Sechs Kies’ fans were also remarkable. Almost 6,000 fans came to the team’s concert held 16 years after the team’s dissolution. Fans in yellow raincoats cheered for Sechs Kies by shaking yellow balloons. They shed tears by every single word said by Sechs Kies.
People are now curious about Sechs Kies’ next moves. It seems hard for Go Ji-yong to join Sechs Kies again, but Sechs Kies will hold concert by the end of next month at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. They will perform a wider variety of repertories that could not be shown in “The Infinite Challenge” show.
Sechs Kies will also release an album. Recently, the possibility of YG Entertainment to take part in producing of the album was hinted, to draw enormous attention. Sechs Kies debuted in 1997 and was disbanded in May, 2000.
