WINNER Sweeps Fans Off Their Feet at Daegu Concert with Their Impeccable Stage Manners
[동아닷컴=권보라 기자] WINNER’s first ever concert in Daegu ended in success.
WINNER, who is currently on a national tour titled “EXIT TOUR”, held a concert and met their fans in Daegu on April 2 following their concerts in Seoul on March 12 and in Gwangju on March 26.
It was a fine spring day, and fans of all ages came to see WINNER. They kicked off the stage by singing “GO UP” and sent the audience into a near frenzy. After singing “LOVE IS A LIE”, a track in their debut album, WINNER members took turns in introducing themselves to the fans in Daegu.
LEE SEUNGHOON lifted up the atmosphere by saying, “Spring has come early in Daegu. (Pointing towards the audience) We also have a lot of flowers here.”
SONG MINHO asked the fans to keep up their spirit until the end of the concert and enjoy the show by saying, “I learned how to speak in Daegu dialect from a friend. He told me that dida means tired. I hope you don’t get dida during the concert and become dida when you get home.”
After their humorous comments, emerald-colored lights shone the stage and members began singing “EMPTY”. Then, they sang “SENTIMENTAL” and “TONIGHT”, capturing the hearts of the audience.
Afterwards, WINNER members charmed the audience with their different appeals by putting on a variety of solo and unit performances: SONG MINHO and LEE SEUNGHOON’s “OKEY DOKEY” and “GOOD BOY”, GANG SEUNGYOON’s “WILD & YOUNG”, KIM JINWOO’s “CROOKED”, SONG MINHO’s “FEAR”, NAM TAEHYUN’s “I’M YOUNG”, and SONG MINHO and NAM TAEHYUN’s “PRICKED”.
There was a special event during the concert. Ten children who appear with WINNER on JTBC’s new variety show “Half-moon Friends” came up on the stage. The children introduced themselves one by one, making the audience scream at how cute they are.
WINNER members, who used to be at the center of spotlight, had a hard time looking after the children on the stage, but they made a big smile and said, “We respect all those who raise children.”
Then, KIM JINWOO, KANG SEUNGYOON, and NAM TAEHYUN–the vocalists of WINNER–performed a medley consisting of more than 20 songs such as “IMMATURE”, “SMILE AGAIN”, and “LA LA”, which is a song WINNER revealed especially for this concert tour. Their performance had added depth and received a huge response from the audience.
When WINNER started singing “BUT”, the fans held up light sticks and cell phone flash lights as an event for WINNER. The concert went on for two hours and a half, and it was a meaningful time for both WINNER and the fans.
When the concert was coming to a close, KIM JINWOO said, “I’m happy that we have a lot of opportunity these days to see our fans.” NAM TAEHYUN thanked the fans by saying, “Whenever we do a concert, so many of our fans come to see us, and I wonder do I deserve to be loved so much by so many people? This motivates me to make more great songs and work harder, and so I think you are live vitamins to us.”
KANG SEUNGYOON, the leader of the group, said, “Lee Sun-hee and her fans made me think about a lot of things recently. She is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her debut, and the title track of her album seemed like a present to her fans. Seeing her singing the song along with her fans made me think that I want to be a singer like her. We as a group will work hard to be a long-lasting group” and made the audience cheer.
WINNER will continue with their tour by holding a concert at the KBS Hall in Busan on April 23. Their new variety show, “Half-moon Friends”, will also premier on the same day.
