YG Participates in Joint Production of “UMF KOREA 2016,” Scheduled to be Held in June
[동아닷컴=홍세영 기자] YG Entertainment is joining with UC KOREA for the production of and investment in the Ultra Music Festival (UMF) Korea 2016. The UMF is often cited as the best electronic music festival in Asia.
YG is joining hands with UC KOREA – the Asian partner company of Ultra-Enterprises Inc. based in Miami and holder of the Asian license for the UMF – to present an upgraded version of the UMF in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the global music festival.
Since the UMF Korea was held in Seoul in 2012 for the first time in Asia, the festival has been joined by world famous musicians such as Skrillex, David Guetta, Tiesto and Snoop Dogg. More than 100 globally renowned DJs and artists at home and abroad are invited to the UMF Korea 2016, which will be held at Jamsil Stadium, Seoul, for 3 days from June 10th to 12th.
YG has decided to participate in the joint production of and investment in the UMF Korea 2016, with an aim to facilitate its future business and increase profits by collaborating with UC KOREA on its major business model. The two companies are also considering joining forces to work on new projects in the future by tapping into the brand awareness and networks they have in Asia.
After its premier in 1999, the UMF has been the world’s biggest electronic music festival held in Miami, Florida, every March. It is a mega-sized music festival, attracting and exciting audiences from all over world. The UMF was held in Ibiza, Spain in 2007; in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2010; and in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2012. It was held in Seoul for the first time in Asia, and has been expanding throughout the world ever since.
Held in Miami in 2014, the UMF was joined by more than 300,000 people from 68 cities. And last year, 330,000 people flocked to enjoy the festival, demonstrating its popularity. Currently, the UMF is held in 11 cities around the world including Miami and Seoul. The UMF Miami has drawn a lot of attention, as it was joined by the world’s top electronic musicians and blockbuster pop stars like Madonna and Usher. As for Korean musicians, CL, along with Skrillex, Diplo and Puff Daddy, performed at the UMF held in Miami last year, where she excited the local fans.
