GANG DONG WON Joins YG and Will Even Has His Own Team [official announcement]
[OSEN=최나영 기자] GANG DONG WON signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment (YG) on January 18.
YG officially announced this on the same day, and now GANG DONG WON is a part of the YG Family along with PSY, BIGBANG, CHA SEUNG WON, and CHOI JI WOO.
GANG DONG WON joining YG on this day was even more special as it was his birthday. He is making a new beginning with a new agency on the day of this birth.
GANG DONG WON was considered to be the biggest blue chip among free agents in the entertainment industry. Apparently, GANG DONG WON and YG’s CEO YANG HYUN SUK met a couple of times, and they were able to build trust and see that they share the same vision. This was the reason why GANG DONG WON joined YG.
During their meetings, GANG DONGWON and YANG HYUN SUK, both of whom are known to be very cautious, had heart-to-heart conversations. They saw they had the same goal, which is to “enter and succeed in overseas markets, especially the ones in Asia, with Korean movies”. It is said that GANG DONGWON always thought of YANG HYUN SUK as the no.1 creative director in Korea’s entertainment industry. He chose YG to represent him because he thinks that YANG HYUN SUK has insight and the drive and that YG has already built a strong global network, especially in Asia.
YANG HYUN SUK announced that YG will make a special GANG DONG WON team to support his acting career both in and out of the county.
The combination of GANG DONG WON and YG is expected to create a big synergy effect. GANG DONG WON will certainly benefit from YG’s big brand power, its systematic management services, strong influence on the global market and maybe able to become an actor that represents Korea on the global stage.
Meanwhile, after debuting as a model, GANG DONG WON’s first role as an actor was in MBC’s “Country Princess” in 2003. Afterwards, he appeared in various movies such as “A Wolf’s Temptation”, “Maundy Thursday”, “Jeon Woo-chi: The Taoist Wizard”, “Secret Reunion”, and “Kundo: Age of the Rampant”. He became a sensation with his role in “The Priests” last year. “A Violent Prosecutor”, in which GANG DONGWON plays the leading role with Hwang Jung-min, premiers next month.
