GANG DONG WON Says “I decided to join YG after meeting YANG HYUN SUK. YG suited me the most”
[TV리포트=김수정 기자] GANG DONG WON revealed why he decided to join YG Entertainment.
On January 26, GANG DONG WON was interviewed in Samchung-dong, Seoul in the run up to the release of ”A Violent Prosecutor”(directed by Lee Il-hyung, produced by Wol Kwang).
In ”A Violent Prosecutor”, GANG DONG WON plays Chi-won, a handsome swindler. Chi-won is by far the most lovable and bubbly character that GANG DONG WON has played.
When asked why he signed an exclusive contract with YG, GANG DONG WON answered, “It was hard working without an agent for almost 10 years. I even had to send flowers to funerals myself. I just wanted to concentrate on acting.”
He went on to say, “Mr. Yang and I met in person and we talked. He said he will only put on the papers what we’ve discussed and that’s exactly what happened. I felt that YG was the best agency for me.”
About having the same goal of entering overseas market with YANG HYUN SUK, GANG DONG WON commented, “I think that someday a single Asian market will be created. It’s not that I want to go to Hollywood. I want my movie to be released in Asia at the same time as in Korea.”
Meanwhile, ”A Violent Prosecutor” is about a prosecutor(Hwang Jung-min) in prison on false charges. He meets a swindler (GANG DONG WON) in prison and they try to clear his name. It is the debut movie of director Lee Il-hyung, the assistant director of “Kundo: Age of the Rampant”. The movie premiers on February 3.
