[Exclusive] iKON, a rookie not like a rookie, took No.1 on music charts again… Confirmed performance in Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards on February 17
[스타뉴스=길혜성 기자] iKON (B.I, KIM JINHWAN, BOBBY, SONG YUNHYEONG, JU-NE, KIM DONGHYUK, and JUNG CHANWOO), a rookie who is not like a rookie, has confirmed their performance in Gaon K-Pop Awards that is the most transparent and fair music awards in Korea.
On/off-line media outlet Star News and Korea’s official music chart Gaon have hosted Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards every year since 2012. Gaon K-Pop Awards give the “best singer of the year” award to singers (teams) who recorded the biggest sales volume of music for every month and No.1 in album sales volume for every quarter in the previous year, based on precise statistics. The fifth 2015 Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards will be hosted on February 17, 2016, at Jamsil Students’ Gymnasium in Seoul.
Leading K-pop idol groups including BIGBANG and EXO have already confirmed their performance in the awards. As iKON, a rookie with a formidable potential, has also confirmed their performance in the awards, music fans are paying keen attention to it.
iKON, YG Entertainment’s new boy group, released debut warm-up single “MY TYPE” in September this year, to prove their enormous potential by taking No.1 on a variety of music charts and TV music shows upon their official debut.
iKON held their debut concert at Olympic Gymnastics Arena of Seoul Olympic Park which can accommodate more than 10,000 people, which is a very rare case for a rookie idol group. The team released their debut full album on the 24 at 0 o’clock and is now sweeping No.1 on major music charts in Korea, with “DUMB&DUMBER” and “WHAT’S WRONG?”, double title tracks of the full album.
Such record is another proof of iKON’s limitless potential and the reason why so many music fans are looking forward to iKON’s performance in Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.
