iKON’s Spoiler MV for Their Hip-hop Single To be Released in October Captures Hearts of Fans
[OSEN=최나영 기자] iKON next single will be a hip-hop song totally different from its already-released debut single “MY TYPE”.
YG Entertainment’s CEO, YANG HYUN SUK, posted parts of iKON’s MV for their next single on his SNS page in the afternoon of September 19. YANG HYUN SUK played iKON’s MV on his computer and shot the screen. Although the posted video was not iKON’s actual MV, it was enough to get a glimpse of iKON’s next single.
iKON’s next single is a melancholy hip-hop song full of delicate emotions. Sweet vocals and BOBBY’s deep and soulful rap catch the ears of the listeners.
iKON will be releasing six new songs on October 1, and they have already made the MVs for two of them. The two MVs are for the powerful hiphop title song and the other for this melancholy hip-hop song.
iKON’s debut single “MY TYPE” has been dominating the charts for five days in a row. The huge popularity of the song makes it hard to believe that it is just a “warm up single”. The No.2 song on the charts is so far behind that iKON’s next single that will be released on October 1 is expected to be the song that will win “MY TYPE” and take the No. 1 spot.
It will be interesting to see if iKON will follow the footsteps of BIGBANG – who had dominated the charts for four straight months since May.
iKON has amassed popularity on a global scale. “MY TYPE” topped the iTunes singles charts in Hong Kong, Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam – record-breaking results for a debut single.
The MV for iKON’s “MY TYPE” took the No.1 spot on the MV Chart and K-POP MV Chart of QQ Music – China’s biggest music streaming site – in the afternoon of September 18. Also, iKON became No. 1 on This Week’s New Song MV Chart and K-pop MV Chart of Youku. iKON became the most searched word on Weibo, and iKON# has been searched 1.3 billion times. Given that the group has not officially debuted in China yet, it can be said that iKON has unlimited potential in China.
Meanwhile, iKON – who made a successful debut with their “MY TYPE” – will be releasing their “’DEBUT HALF ALBUM WELCOME BACK” on October 1 and “DEBUT FULL ALBUM WELCOME BACK” on November 2. On October 3, they will be holding their debut concert “SHOWTIME” at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium in Seoul – which is rare for a rookie – and meet their fans for the first time after their official debut.
