YG Invests 100b won in Uijeongbu for “K-Pop Cluster”
[세계일보 박태훈기자] YG Entertainment is establishing a large-scale K-Pop concert facility in Gyeonggi Province Uijeongbu with an investment of 100 billion won.
According to the province of Gyeonggi and Uijeongbu on Jan 15, YG Entertainment’s YANG MIN SUK and the head of YG Plus met with the governors of Gyeonggi and Uijeongbu to sign an agreement on building a “YG Global K-Pop Cluster.”
The K-Pop Cluster will cover 49,600㎡ in Sangokdong. The area is conveniently located so that access to Incheon International Airport and Seoul is easy.
YG Entertainment is to invest a total of 100 billion won, including a 37.5 billion won worth of land property.
In the K-Pop Cluster, YG is to build 5 large and small concert stadiums, exhibition halls where fans can have a hands-on experience of domestic and Asian pop music, a residence hotel for pop music creators, production studio, shops related to fashion and cosmetics and leisure area of golf and outdoor activities by 2018.
YG will designate this place as the headquarter of Multi Asia and America, discovering human resources while setting it a place for distribution and consumption of pop music in liaison to Paju and Goyang’s cultural art cluster.
Personnel from Uijeongbu commented, “When this is established, it will create 600 jobs and as the locales human resources are going to be prioritized, it will boost the region’s economy.”
YG Entertainment is a mega entertainment agency with a market capitalization of 740 billion won, to where big artists like PSY and BIGBANG belong.
