[OSEN=선미경 기자] 2NE1’s 2nd full album “CRUSH” released early this year was chosen as the 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014 by America’s top music magazine the Rolling Stone.

Among world famous albums like Taylor Swift’s “1989,” Pharrell William’s “Girl,” Adriana Grande’s “My Everything” and Maroon 5’s “V,” 2NE1’s “CRUSH” was introduced as the 6th out of 20 albums. Their album is the only one in the Asian region, which attracted much attention.

Introducing 2NE1, Rolling Stone wrote, “Female foursome 2NE1, buoyed by a cameo on The Bachelor, moved more units of their album in its first week of release than any previous Korean act.”

“”Happy” is a sunny, strummy jaunt with no manic gimmicks and the ballad “Good to You” soars and sweet-talks likably. But Crush’s centerpiece is “MTBD,” which spotlights group member CL on a bratty squirt of EDM-hip-pop with a bubblegum trap groove.”

Immediately after its release in February, “CRUSH” topped all charts and most songs were lined up in several charts. On Billboard 200 it ranked #61, breaking the record of K-Pop albums on the American chart.

Since “I AM THE BEST” was released in June 2011, the mega hit song was also used as the background music for America’s Microsoft commercial from August, while topping Billboard’s World Digital Song.

Meanwhile CL is gearing up to make an entrance in the American market, going hand in hand with America’s top producer Scooter Braun. On Dec 16 she appeared with G-DRAGON on the world-famous dubstep DJ Skrillex’s “Dirty Vibe” music video. Foreign media like Billboard, Fuse TV and Hype Trak are spotlighting CL as well.
