American Billboard Extolled HI SUHYUN, Saying, “Hard Pressed to Find a Pairing More Full of Promise”
[OSEN=선미경 기자] American Billboard magazine extolled YG Entertainment’s new unit “HI SUHYUN”.
On the 19 this month (local time), Billboard made headlines with an article about HI SUHYUN’s “I’m Different”, saying, “You’d be hard pressed to find a pairing more full of promise, with a duet that captures their unique energies”.
Billboard said, “Between the two singers, they’ve racked up four No. 1s on the K-Pop Hot 100 and both landed themselves on Billboard’s 21 Under 21 list”, introducing the unit. LEE SU HYUN was selected as the only Asian singer to be included in Billboard’s “21 Under 21: Music’s Hottest Minors 2014”, to be recognized for her global potential. In last year’s “21 Under 21” ranking, LEE HI was selected as the only Asian singer, to draw much attention.
Billboard evaluated, “Between the two singers, they’ve racked up four No. 1s on the K-Pop Hot 100 … with a duet that captures their unique energies”. It also analyzed “I’m Different” in depth and said, “The brassy production on “I’m Different” recalls Lee Hi’s upbeat releases like “1,2,3,4” and “It’s Over” while the light harmonies and rap sections is reminiscent to Akdong Musician singles, such as “200%”.
The magazine also mentioned BOBBY who featured for “I’m Different”, to recognize his limitless potential and talent. Billboard drew attention by saying, “Bobby of YG’s still-to-debut boy band iKON is also on the track, bringing his raspy delivery for a quick verse that fits right into the brassy production … but still illustrates his growing potential”.
Then, Billboard also mentioned the music video of “I’m Different”, which was unveiled on the 18. Billboard explains, “The music video spotlights the singers as schoolgirls vying for the attention of their crush, Bobby; showcasing Lee Hi’s cool-but-cute demeanor and Soohyun’s confidence and quirkiness… All the while, viewers get to check out the singer’s undeniable on-screen chemistry”.
Meanwhile, HI SUHYUN’s “I’m Different” is a R&B/SOUL song in which LEE HI’s soulful voice and AKMU LEE SU HYUN’s clear and ringing voice create harmony. It is enjoying consistent popularity upon its release on the 11 at 0am.
