MIX & MATCH proves its popularity: Hugely successful fan-meeting in Japan
[OSEN=표재민 기자] YG Entertainment’s 9 members of the new program MIX & MATCH, a survival program to form the next boy group, iKON, successfully put an end to the fan meeting held in Japan.
The event held on Oct 5 at Dojima river forum was joined by 2,000 local fans. This is a clear proof of their popularity, as the members did not even make an official debut yet. What is more noteworthy is that the competition for the fan meeting was extremely fierce—almost 40,000 fans entered the event, which was 20 times more than the selected lucky ones.
The fan meeting kicked off with B.I, BOBBY and KIM JIN HWAN’s appearance, the 3 members whose membership in the group is already confirmed. They seemed genuinely happy to see the local fans again, showing their determination as members of iKON. They were followed by 6 others KOO JUN HOE, SONG YUN HYEONG, KIM DONG HYUK, JUNG JIN HYEONG, JUNG CHAN WOO and YANG HONG SEOK. They introduced themselves in Japanese.
The 9 members reinterpreted TEAM B’s “JUST ANOTHER BOY,” exciting the fans. They showed great harmony amongst themselves, heating up the fans.
In the Q&A session, the fans and the members had a chance for mingling. This was a great gift for the fans as it meant going a step closer to the members, seeing the sides which were never aired on MIX & MATCH.
After the session, they went on to perform “WAIT FOR ME.” This is the song that TEAM B sang for their fans when the program WIN finished. They even delivered the song in Japanese for the local fans, singing it live.
The members thanked the fans deeply and the fans cheered enthusiastically. At the fan meeting, the advance viewers voting for MIX & MATCH took place as well. The fans were left to choose 4 out of 6 members excluding B.I, BOBBY and KIM JIN HWAN who are already in the team. The outcome of the voting will indeed attract much attention.
MIX & MATCH members will then move on to Beijing on Oct 11 at the Poly Theater, and will return to Seoul’s D Cube City D Cube Park on Oct 17. They will meet with international fans and the voting will continue.
The program is aired every Thursday at 11 pm on Mnet, while also streamed on Naver TV Cast. The video can be replayed on Naver TV Cast and YG’s official blog. The latest fan meeting will be featured in the future episode of the show.
Meanwhile, iKON will be opening BIGBANG’s 5 Japan’s largest Dome Tour to reunite with the local fans after the survival program finishes.
