Complex Magazine: “TAEYANG undoubtedly a star in his own right”
[텐아시아 권석정 기자] American magazine Complex commented that “TAEYANG is undoubtedly a star in his own right, with a well-earned reputation in K-pop circles as the genre’s best R&B singer and dancer.
The title of the article read, “TAEYANG talks “RISE,” Individuality in K-Pop and Life After YG Entertainment.”
“TAEYANG’s second solo album, RISE, has topped the iTunes album charts in 10 countries since its release in June,” it wrote, spotlighting on his future as an artist and the reason for the delay in his album release.
TAEYANG’s interview went like this: “Actually, I was very concerned about that when I was younger. But these days, I don’t worry about it. When I look at the life of those artists I admire, I believe that age isn’t a big factor. As long as I have the capacity to accept a wide range of music, and have the ability to produce and make new music, I think I’d be okay as an older K-pop artist.”
“Even myself, I believe that as an artist I should pursue more independent activities. If more artists believe in this and are active about it, they will be able to accomplish more on their own, without the influence of entertainment labels. So I think it’s a very positive shift,” added TAEYANG.
To the question “There were a lot of articles about you at various fashion shows over the past year, but it seems like you’re keeping things more simple these days,” he answered, “That’s what I like. Keeping things simple.”
TAEYANG will be performing for the Korean fans for the first time in 4 years at the exclusive 2014 TAEYANG CONCERT RISE from Oct 10 to 12 at Seoul Olympic Park Hall.
