Bobby Reveals a New Song “YGGR#HIP HOP,” Gripping the Audience
[OSEN=강서정 기자] YG Entertainment’s BOBBY, one of the rising rappers in Korea, revealed his true self through his new rap song, “YGGR#HIP-HOP.” He was able to capture the audience’s heart by telling his own story in the song.
BOBBY’s “YGGR#HIP HOP,” an intense song with a powerful rhythm, was revealed at noon on Aug. 29. Although he is only 20 years old, the energetic vibe that came out of the rising rapper was mesmerizing. BOBBY’s remarkable rapping skill left the audience in awe and fans could not believe that he only has been rapping for less than a year.
BOBBY was the first among the four semifinalists to advance to Mnet’s SHOW ME THE MONEY 3 finals, which was aired on Aug. 28. BOBBY’s advancement to the show’s finals is a proof that he showcased a powerful song, gripping the entire audience.
BOBBY’s “YGGR#HIP HOP” is a newly arranged song of ILLINAIRE RECORDS’ “YG GR,” and DOK2 & DOUBLE K’s “HIP HOP,” a song from their first album. If “YGGR#HIP HOP” were a rock song, it would be a heavy metal, which means the song is filled with BOBBY’s intense rapping and powerful rhythm.
The well-written lyrics, cleverly delivered by BOBBY through powerful rapping and rhythm, is what made the song to hit a home run. BOBBY often talked about his family’s difficult circumstances on the show, so he decided to write about his desperate wish to live with his parents again by winning the show.
BOBBY’s desperation and tenacity were vividly described in his lyrics, winning the sympathy of the audience. “I will let you look through my glasses, look closer, who’s on stage? You or me? Do you know why the poor and homeless foreign workers are the real tough cookies? Endure the harsh reality. I bring smile upon my face by working like a dog. Picture yourself on the money bed. All the moaning and jealousy will never win over me. I keep on stacking through my music, living my dream. I’m a proud boy band member, working hard to earn my share to be with my mother once again. We won’t be broke no more, it’s time to rebuild my home. I don’t care if I lose, just show me the money.”
Combined with powerful rapping, BOBBY’s lyrics sent a powerful message to the audience, raising the fans’ expectations for what he has in store for them.
