[OSEN=손남원 기자] After watching TAEYANG’s sensational solo comeback performance, YG Entertainment’s executive producer had a big smile on his face and his thumb raised.

“It’s really great,” said YANG, unable to hide his exhilaration after watching TAEYANG perform the solo comeback song on June 8 on SBS’s music program Inkigayo. YANG has known TAEYANG since he was a teenage trainee at the agency, and was watched him day and night. Now, as a teacher and big brother, YANG watches the actual show and expresses his excitement.

In fact the solo performance on Inkigayo clearly stood out from others. TAEYANG was on stage to perform “STAY WITH ME” and “EYES, NOSE, LIPS” from his 2nd album, the first one in 4 years. It was a short TV performance. However, whether the performance was long or short, it was impossible to measure the artist’s depth to begin with.

His first one was a duet with G-DRAGON. His sentimental voice and GD’s tasteful rapping in “STAY WITH ME” explained why BIGBANG is one of the world’s top idol groups. The two enjoying the rhythm in harmony was a special gift to the fans.

In the following “EYES, NOSE, LIPS,” TAEYANG unleashed his singing skill. With the staging that reminded many of the music video, he enriched the song with his charming yet sorrowful voice. The performance was quite fresh as his music used to revolve around dynamic presentation in the past. The background visual effect that portrayed space and sun (the word TAEYANG means “sun”) was also enough to grab the attention.

YANG commented, “If I were watching the performance as one of the judges of K-Pop Star, I would have given him a full mark (100/100). “EYES, NOSE, LIPS” especially was incredible as there was not a single dancer on stage. The collabo with GD was never rehearsed, and the perfect performance shows the harmony of the 15-year-old friendship.”

“EYES, NOSE, LIPS” is a slow R&B song that maximizes TAEYANG’s sentimental voice. Unlike his other songs that focused on dance performances, the latest title track spotlights his sentiment and sorrow of yearning for a long-gone love.
