2NE1 meets expectations: “mainstream & classy”
[OSEN=황미현 기자] 2NE1 did not fail the expectations with the double title songs in their new album CRUSH.
Their album released at 0 hour of Feb 27 unveiled the two title songs “COME BACK HOME” and “GOTTA BE YOU.”
The listeners are entertained by the enjoyable melody that holds 2NE1’s unique sounds and colors with charisma.
“COME BACK HOME” is a crossover genre song of hip-hop, reggae and others. The vintage melody that comes in the introduction is both classy and addictive. The EDM trap in the latter part refreshes the music.
The line “Don’t leave me at the end of the world, come by my side” is somewhat lonely and sentimental, and is easy to follow at the same time. Every part is entertaining with each member’s strong colors put into it.
The other title song “GOTTA BE YOU” is a mixture of synthetic sound and rhythmical rapping, heightening the expectations of the fans. CL’s classy rapping makes any listener filled with joy.
It is like “COME BACK HOME,” a crossover genre of upbeat old-school melody. MINZY and BOM’s parts are especially addictive.
“I can’t be without you, It can’t be the end” desperately shows emotions of a woman who longs for the loved one.
CL participated in composing and writing of 3 songs including “CRUSH,” “IF I WERE YOU,” and “BABY I MISS YOU,” while writing her solo song “MTBD” and “SCREAM.”
2NE1 is set to show performances of their new songs for the first time at their 2nd World Tour on March 1 and 2 at Seoul Olympic Park’s SK Handball Arena.
