[Exclusive] Justin Bieber, Having Team Dinner at YG’s Cafeteria… “Korean Food is the Best”
[OSEN=손남원 기자] In the evening on the 9, a day before world-famous pop star Justin Bieber’s concert in Korea, he enjoyed a team dinner of Korean food with concert staff, at YG’s cafeteria. Ten artists who play a major role in Bieber’s concert in Korea, as well as American pop music world’s heavyweight Scooter Braun were at the dinner.
Bieber’s choice of YG building’s cafeteria for his team dinner instead of a five-star hotel or a blue-ribbon restaurant in Seoul was because of Scooter Braun’s recommendation, according to insiders. Braun, who has ties with YG because he is close to Psy, had visited YG’s cafeteria at the invitation of YG’s head Yang Hyun Suk and was fascinated by its food and then, he became a preacher of YG’s food for Hollywood people.
Moreover, other top stars of Hollywood including Will Smith and his son Jaden, living jazz legend Quincy Jones have also visited YG’s cafeteria and been fascinated by its food, and that stimulated Bieber’s palate as well. It is known through the media that Will Smith was so excited by the taste of YG’s Bibimbap (boiled rice with assorted mixture) and kept exclaiming “wonderful”.
At the dinner, Bieber and his staff had Korean traditional home cooking which includes Bulgogi (seasoned and barbequed beef), a variety of jeon (Korean pancake), fish boiled in seasoning, and seasoned vegetable dishes. They enjoyed YG cafeteria’s Korean food so much that they refilled their dishes and bowls for many times and praised and thanked the cooks, according to YG insiders.
After the dinner, Bieber moved to YG Studio on the second floor of the same building and had friendly talks with G-Dragon and Teddy for a quite long time.
YG’s cafeteria has been drawing much attention not from world stars like Bieber but also from Korean celebrities recently. It has long been recognized as a gourmet restaurant, which can be seen from a remark by Yoo Hee Yeol, a singer-cum-producer who has recently joined SBS channel’s “K-Pop Star 3” as a member of its judge panel, “I’m very much looking forward to have a meal at YG’s cafeteria.”
Popular entertainment shows are adding to YG cafeteria’s reputation, too. SBS channel’s leading entertainment show “Running Man” and “K-Pop Star” have frequently mentioned YG Cafeteria’s delicious food and charming atmosphere. Furthermore, in an episode of MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” which was aired on September 28, G-Dragon and comedian Jung Hyung Don showed a very special chemistry at YG’s cafeteria, to catch eyes of many people.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber meets Korean fans in his first concert in Korea, which will be held at 8pm on the 10 this month at Olympic Park’s Gymnastics Hall. It is part of Bieber’s world tour concert from 2012, which is the world-biggest pop concert. For the world tour, he has held 151 concerts in 39 countries around the world and the total number of audience is expected to exceed as many as 1.8 million.
According to the concert’s organizers, Justin Bieber is giving magnificent performance on the day, with more than 20 dancers and a band of nine musicians. Plus, a variety of special effects, mega screen, and extruded stage will enable the audience to more vividly enjoy his performances. Bieber’s concert is attracting all the more attention, since it is known that he makes one of the audience come upon the stage, in a special event for his world-tour concert.
