USA Men’s Magazine, “G-Dragon is Phenomenon Bigger than K-Pop”
[엑스포츠뉴스=백종모 기자] Big Bang’s G-Dragon made a headline of USA’s men’s magazine “COMPLEX”.
COMPLEX disclosed an interview about G-Dragon’s world of music and fashion, introducing him as “world-famous Asian pop star”, in an article published on the 11.
The magazine’s style of interview was very unique, with name of different sections like an air-travelling process such as check-in and boarding check, etc. It also released G-Dragon’s images gorgeously polished with a colorful and sensual visual art work,
COMPLEX highly praised G-Dragon by quoting foreign artists who featured in his second full solo album “COUP D’ETAT”. Diplo, who took part in title track “Coup d’Etat” said, “GD is a cultural phenomenon that is bigger than K-Pop itself” and Skrillex evaluated GD by saying, “GD has firmly consolidated his place in a niche of the music world, while sticking to his own style”. In addition, Ben Baller said, “If there is any Asian singer who will be successful in the USA, it is highly likely to be G-Dragon.”
G-Dragon enhanced the quality of this second full solo album with featuring by an army of famous foreign musicians including Missy Elliott, Diplo, and Baauer. Plus, his collaboration performance of “Nilirai” with Missy Elliott at “KCON K-POP” concert held in Los Angeles on the 8 this month was hailed by the audience. Missy Elliott said in an interview with COMPLEX, “G-Dragon is a very talented fellow and I enjoyed performing with him very much.”
The collaboration with foreign artists triggered the spotlight on G-Dragon’s music in the USA.
COMPLEX expressed high expectations for G-Dragon’s future as a global star, highlighting his musical talent and unique style which have created sensation since his debut as boy band Big Bang in 2006. It demonstrates the fact that G-Dragon has been recognized in the world music market, as a highly promising artist who will have a great influence not only in Asia but also all over the world.
