BABYMONSTER Drops First Full Album…A New YG Classic Emerges
[이데일리 스타in=김보영 기자] BABYMONSTER has unveiled its much-anticipated first full album, showcasing the group’s confidence in this new release.
BABYMONSTER (RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, AHYEON, RAMI, RORA, CHIQUITA) hosted a press conference this morning at the YG Entertainment headquarters in Mapo District, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their album “DRIP.”
RORA opened the conference by stating, “We are finally meeting you with our first full album. It has come to us quicker than expected, with a heartfelt desire to repay our fans’ love.” She added, “We successfully concluded our pre-release fan meeting, which allowed for meaningful interaction with fans and learning opportunities, making this past year significant.”
AHYEON commented on the preparation process, “We took on many new challenges while preparing this regular album. It’s a diverse spectrum of genres we’ve practiced and are now excited to show.”
RAMI said, “True to the album’s name ‘DRIP,’ we’ve packed it full of our charm. As our first full album, we paid close attention to it and included a total of nine tracks, each bringing its own flavor and fun.”
Additionally, RUKA noted, “This album might just define YG’s new classic. We hope to showcase our unique vocal color and youthful charm, so please give it a lot of love.”
The first regular album ‘DRIP’ is precisely that, a crystallization of BABYMONSTER’s overflowing charm, meticulously crafted into nine vibrant tracks. A bold promotional move was to pre-release the first verse of each song, highlighting YG’s confidence in the album’s overall quality.
This comeback marks a major project under YG’s full support. The unprecedented pace of their debut album release, numerous music video productions, and prepared follow-up stages signal a brilliant ascent in both domestic and international activities.
The double lead tracks play a winning hand. The title track ‘DRIP’ blends BABYMONSTER’s bold attitude with YG’s signature hip-hop vibe into an EDM-based dance track. G-DRAGON’s participation in composition has also sparked interest. Its catchy hooks, dynamic beats, and strong bass sound create an exhilarating thrill.
The pre-released track ‘CLIK CLAK’ perfectly embodies original hip-hop, carrying on YG DNA and leaving a powerful impression as a prepared newcomer. The rap challenges by all members highlight their distinct voice tones and flows, showcasing their versatility.
Tracks such as ‘Love, Maybe’ with beautiful guitar and vocals, ‘Really Like You’ with a 90s hip-hop vibe, ‘BILLIONAIRE’ with a heavy 808 bass and R&B sound enhancing the Y2K aesthetic, and the lively ‘Love In My Heart’ are sequentially presented. ‘Woke Up In Tokyo (RUKA & ASA)’, ‘FOREVER’, and the highly loved fan meeting encore ‘BATTER UP (Remix) – Bonus Track’ further enrich the upgraded musical world of BABYMONSTER.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER’s first full album ‘DRIP’ is set to release today at 1 PM.
