Six-Member Debut: BABYMONSTER Continues to Heat Up the Scene
[OSEN=지민경 기자] YG’s new girl group BABYMONSTER is set to debut on the 27th in a 6-member formation, but the anticipation for BABYMONSTER remains high.
BABYMONSTER had officially confirmed their debut as a 7-member group after about 5 months of various teaser content releases and final member evaluations, following the first launch teaser revealed on January 1st this year.
As BABYMONSTER geared up for their official debut, they set November 27th as their debut date and began promotions. However, news came that member AHYEON would not be able to participate in debut activities due to health reasons and would be focusing on rest for the time being.
YG Entertainment announced on the 15th, “BABYMONSTER, consisting of RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, HARAM, RORA, and CHIQUITA, will release their debut song’s music video and audio on the 27th.”
AHYEON, who was previously praised as a ‘Little JENNIE’ for her explosive singing and rapping skills despite her young age, will be absent for the time being, which has disappointed many fans.
YG stated, “We regret not being able to introduce AHYEON as a member of BABYMONSTER, but this decision was made for the artist’s health. We will not spare any support for AHYEON to fully recover and return in good form.”
With this, BABYMONSTER will step into the music world as a 6-member group. Despite this, interest in BABYMONSTER is still high. The six members possess well-rounded capabilities in vocals, rap, dance, and visuals.
The youngest member, CHIQUITA, has impressive singing skills despite her young age, and PHARITA captivates with her overwhelming physical presence and clear vocal tone. HARAM is recognized for her powerful singing, soulful tone, and overflowing talent, while RORA gathers attention for her powerful singing, soulful low-tone voice.
RUKA shines with her unique aura in dance, and her intense rapping deeply embodies YG’s hip-hop identity. ASA has proven her wide musical range with her unique vocal tone and fast-paced high-tone rapping.
Another point of expectation is YG’s high-quality music. YG has conducted song camps for BABYMONSTER’s music, obtaining high-quality songs from global writers and going through a thorough selection process. YG’s senior artists and internal producers have also supported the ‘dream team’.
According to reports, BABYMONSTER’s debut song is a strong hip-hop track that embodies YG’s identity, and the music video, shot over five days, is expected to have high completion.
As such, BABYMONSTER, evaluated as a ‘monster rookie’ with all members skilled in vocals, rap, dance, and visuals, is garnering expectations as the next generation group leading YG. They are showcasing an upgraded concept and trendy styling through teaser content of members’ visuals. The global fans’ interest is focused on what kind of music and concept BABYMONSTER will use to captivate them.
