[스타뉴스=이승훈 기자] The rookie girl group BABYMONSTER has heralded a dazzling rise following BLACKPINK.

On the 19th, YG Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as ‘YG’) posted ‘BABYMONSTER – DEBUT MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENT REACTION’ on its official blog at midnight. You can feel the raw emotions of that day, where the reactions of the seven members watching the final debut team announcement were vividly captured.

Previously, executive producer YANG HYUN SUK had revealed that he had been planning on “BABYMONSTER as a group of five from the early planning stages”, so a five-member debut seemed likely. AHYEON, RUKA, CHIQUITA, HARAM, and PHARITA were called out as debut members, while ASA and RORA were announced to join YG’s new project. Though there were mixed feelings of disappointment, the members celebrated each other with heartfelt congratulations, bringing warmth to the moment.

Reflecting the opinions of the ‘YG Family’ of fans worldwide, it was announced that ASA and RORA would also be added, confirming BABYMONSTER’s debut as a group of seven. Caught by this unexpected twist, the members were speechless and eventually burst into tears. Following this, everyone stood up from their seats and hugged each other, turning the scene into a sea of tears.

BABYMONSTER expressed sincere appreciation towards the members who have been chasing the same dream and who will continue to move forward together. HARAM said, “I clearly remember the day I first came to the practice room. Thanks to everyone’s hard work,” while RORA said, “I’m happy to debut with members who know me better than anyone else.” AHYEON also expressed her affection, saying, “I want to express my gratitude to the members again.”

They also conveyed their gratitude to the fans who made the dream of a seven-member debut come true. PHARITA said, “We will work harder to prepare great songs and music videos,” while ASA declared, “This is just the beginning. We will work harder.” RUKA promised, “Thanks to your support, we’ve come this far. We will definitely pay you back,” and CHIQUITA confessed her ambitious aspiration, saying, “I have a big dream. I want to perform on the ‘Coachella’ stage,” bringing a smile.

BABYMONSTER is the girl group announced by YG about seven years after BLACKPINK. Composed of members from different nationalities including Korea (AHYEON, HARAM, RORA), Thailand (PHARITA, CHIQUITA), and Japan (RUKA, ASA), they are ‘all-rounders’ equipped with vocals, dance, rap, and visuals, attracting global music market expectations.

Even before their debut, they broke through 2 million YouTube channel subscribers in a record short period of 129 days for a K-pop girl group trainee, and their teaser content has accumulated over 400 million views, forecasting their popularity storm early on. The US Billboard selected them as a ‘K-pop Artist to Watch’, predicting that they “will create a new wave in the K-pop genre.”
