BLACKPINK Reaches First & Best Record in the K-Pop Scene…‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ Reaches 1.9 Billion Views

[헤럴드경제=고승희 기자] Group BLACKPINK reached yet another whopping record in the K-POP scene. Their M/V for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ reached 1.9 billion views on YouTube.

According to YG Entertainment on the 3rd, the M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ reached 1.9 billion views on YouTube as of 4:02 AM the same day. This feat comes in about 4 years since it was released on June 15th, 2018.

‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is the title song of BLACKPINK’s first mini-album ‘SQUARE UP’. The addictive chorus and point choregraphy where the girls make a gun gesture became very popular, making the song the ‘Most Viewed K-POP M/V in the World’ in 2018. Since they reached 1 billion views in November 2019, the group has been changing the first digit of their hundreds of millions of view record every three to four months.

The song is also reaching remarkable milestones in global charts as well. Not only did it sweep domestic music charts, but it also ranked 40th and 55th on U.S. Billboard’s main chart, Billboard 200 and HOT 100 respectively, breaking the record as a K-POP girl group at the time. It also surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music platform.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK has a total of 32 videos which reached more than one hundred million views on YouTube. They have more than 24.1 billion cumulative views and the number of subscribers currently exceeded 75 million, which is the most number of subscribers out of artists from all around the globe.
