TREASURE To Make a Comeback As a 10-member Group… YG “BANG YE DAM is to study more, and MASHIHO is taking a break due to health reasons”
[스포츠월드=정가영 기자] Group TREASURE will be releasing a new song this summer. The group will be holding the upcoming activities in a 10-member group.
YG mega rookie TREASURE turned a green light for their activities during the 2nd half of the year. According to YG Entertainment on the 27th, TREASURE has gone into preparation mode for their new comeback this summer. The title-song has already been set, and once the schedule for their recording and choreography practice gets fixed, they plan on shooting the M/V.
Although the details of the song such as the album format hasn’t been unveiled yet, YG said they’re preparing for bold projects celebrating their 2nd year of debut in August, and therefore is preparing for the comeback early.
TREASURE actually plans on expanding their interactions with global fans, apart from promotional activities. Following their arena tour in 6 Japanese cities, there even might be a second domestic concert.
YG said “We’ve been getting enormous number of requests from fans ever since ‘TRACE’, TREASURE’s first concert since debut, as the all-offline tickets were sold out for both days”. They then added “Fans were very upset they couldn’t cheer and sing together chants due to COVID-19 restrictions, and members also said they wanted to interact with domestic fans more, and we’re positively reviewing the possibility of holding another concert”
Their album sales, which is a major indicator of an artists’ popularity, is something to take notice of. TREASURE’s mini-album, which was recently released, sold more than 800,000 copies. When adding the 3 single albums and their first full album, their accumulated sales add up to 2 million copies. Considering the fact that it’s been less than 2 years since they had their debut, their growth within a short period of time is extremely noticeable.
Fans’ expectations are running high as they made their summer comeback official, and they’re even hoping their dreams of the group holding a world tour concert comes true.
There’s also some unfortunate news within the group along with their comeback. TREASURE, which has been holding activities non-stop since debut, will be coming back as a ten-member group with CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN.
As BANG YE DAM expressed his desire to expand his producing abilities as an artist, it was decided that he’d be focusing on his music studies for the time being, and MASHIHO, who is currently on a break in Japan, asked for a longer break due to health reasons, and will be staying in his home country with his family for the time being.
YG said “While we work towards supporting our artists and their growth, our priority is in their health”. They then added “After a long discussion with TREASURE members, we decided to allow the two members to take a longer break, so we ask fans for their understanding and support”.
