BLACKPINK Postpones Concert Due to COVID19, “Will be Held on January 31st”
[스포츠월드=정가영 기자] In light of COVID19, group BLACKPINK’s livestream concert has been postponed.
On December 17, YG Entertainment-BLACKPINK’s agency, revealed that “BLACKPINK’s livestream concert ‘YG PALM STAGE – 2020 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW’ has been postponed to January 31st next year”. The decision was made as the ‘social distancing regulation’ to prevent the spread of COVID19 in the metropolitan area has strengthened to virtually match stage 3.
According to YG Entertainment, the local government placed where BLACKPINK’s concert is scheduled to be held has recently announced an ‘administrative order with additional restrictions gathering prohibition through social distancing regulation stage 2.5’. The order applied strengthened quarantine regulations with added restrictions on the current stage 2.5 regulations, banning gatherings and events of more than 10 people from December 11 until December 28.
Regarding the matter, YG asked for the fans’ understanding through an official notice and revealed, “We will revisit you with a better concert by preparing thoroughly for the fans who have waited”.
YG was scheduled to broadcast BLACKPINK’s livestream concert ‘THE SHOW’ with YouTube partnership on December 27. They’ve officially announced the concert early this month and revealed the main poster and the trailer video for ‘YG PALM STAGE – 2020 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW’ as well. The concert was to be held in approximately a year and 5 months since the group’s successful world tour held last year, composed of 32 concerts held in 23 cities of 4 continents.
Not only the fans, but also the members of BLACKPINK revealed their frustration. The members stated, “We wanted to console many people who are currently having a hard time, but we also think that it is important to prepare our concert in a safe environment, for the health of everyone who is involved with ‘THE SHOW’”. They promised, “ We thank all the medical staff who are working hard to give their best efforts to overcome the current situation regarding COVID19, even at this moment. Everyone stay safe until the end of the year and let’s meet next year at ‘THE SHOW”.
