YG TREASURE, “Winning 2 Trophies at ‘MAMA’, Feels Like Dreaming… We’re Happy Thanks to the Fans, ‘Love You’”
[OSEN=김은애 기자] TREASURE(CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASASHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, SO JUNG HWAN) won the Best New Male Artist award along with a main award and shared their gratitude towards the fans.
On December 7, TREASURE revealed their thoughts on winning 2 awards by writing, “This feels like dreaming, really. The performance was fun, and we were so happy to receive the awards”.
The also showed off their special fan love by adding, “We’re getting happier and brighter, thanks to our Treasure Makers. Love you so much and we will continue to grow. We love you”.
A video revealed along with their writing showed TREASURE wearing suits while yelling, “Thank you, Treasure Makers”. TREASURE revealed their excitement and happiness of winning 2 awards at the ‘2020 MAMA’ while showing off their handsome visuals. CHOI HYUN SUK sent hand kisses while JIHOON, ASAHI, and HARUTO sent finger hearts. Some members including PARK JEONG WOO yelled in excitement, which added cuteness to the group.
At the ‘2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards’ held on December 6, TREASURE received the BEST NEW MALE ARTIST award in addition to one of the main awards which was titled the ‘Worldwide Fans’ Choice TOP 10’ award.
Under YG’s fast∙concentrated strategy, TREASURE has successfully released 3 single albums in 3 months since their debut made on August 7. The 3 single albums have surpassed a total of 700 thousand in sales, while title songs from all 3 albums swept various global charts including the Top 100 chart of Line Music, Japan’s biggest music platform, and Rakuten Music’s Real-time Comprehensive Rankings.
The group also entered the top ranks of US Billboard’s Social and Emerging Artists chart, showing the fastest growing trend not only as a rookie group, but also as the early stages of a group launched in YG history. They have been acknowledged as the biggest rookies of 2020.
Furthermore, TREASURE proved their amazing capabilities through stage at ‘2020 MAMA’. They began by performing their debut song ‘BOY’, emitting explosive energy as the song began playing by presenting a powerful performance with the exciting beat of the song. The scene of 12 robot arms shooting lasers to the members’ hearts emphasized TREASURE’s charismatic charms on stage, notifying the birth of a legendary performance which the viewers cannot take their eyes off.
Moreover, the performance of ‘I LOVE YOU’ newly arranged with beautiful piano accompaniment and grand sounds was revealed for the first time and captivated the fans’ hearts. TREASURE’s mellow vocals and soft dance lines stood out. The Hip-hop song ‘MMM’ then created a contrasting vibe and decorated the glamorous finale by leading the viewers to the climax. TREASURE’s unique teen-crush group dance and Hip-hop swag shined throughout the changing beat, which were enough to excite the entire MAMA.
The global fans cheered after TREASURE presented their performance at MAMA. TREASURE’s YouTube channel subscribers rapidly increased and surpassed 3M, while ‘TREASURE’ and ‘#TREASURE_at_MAMA’ decorated the real-time searched keywords of various portal sites and Twitter’s Worldwide Trend Rankings.
Meanwhile, TREASURE is planning to continue various promotional activities through ‘MMM’ until the end of the year and has revealed their plan to release their official debut album next year on January. The people are paying keen attention to the furious race of TREASURE, the ‘super rookies’.
