BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ Reaches 400M Streams on Spotify, ‘First-Ever For a K-Pop Girl Group’

[스포티비뉴스=김원겸 기자] BLACKPINK set the ‘First∙Biggest∙Fastest K-Pop Girl Group’ record on Spotify, the world’s biggest music platform, once again.

According to YG Entertainment on November 17, BLACKPINK’s ‘Kill This Love’ surpassed 400M streams on Spotify. It is the first-ever K-Pop girl group song to reach 400M streams.

Furthermore, BLACKPINK’s debut album title song ‘Lovesick Girls’ also surpassed 100M streams. The record was achieved in 44 days, which is the fastest record among all K-Pop girl group songs that have reached 100M streams.

As a result, BLACKPINK has a total of 11 songs with over 100M streams on Spotify including ‘Kill This Love'(400M), ‘How You Like That'(390M), ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU'(300M), BOOMBAYAH(200M), ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST'(200M), ‘SOLO'(JENNIE. 200M), ‘Ice Cream'(190M), ‘WHISTLE'(100M), ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE'(100M), and ‘Don’t Know What To Do'(100M). Their collaborative songs with Pop stars including ‘Kiss and Make Up'(390M), and ‘Sour Candy'(100M) add up to the 13th song by BLACKPINK to reach 100M views.

3 songs from BLACKPINK’s debut album(‘How You Like That’, ‘Ice Cream’, ‘Lovesick Girls’) have surpassed 100M views which add more meaning to their record, while other songs are also racking up streams at a fast pace. The song ‘How You Like That’ is also about to become their second song to reach 400M views, so the group’s popularity storm is expected to continue.

BLACKPINK’s official debut album ‘THE ALBUM’, released on October 2, topped iTunes Album charts in 57 different countries including the US. The song was then ranked at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and UK’s Official Albums chart on its first week, setting a milestone in K-Pop girl group history. They are also renewing the K-Pop girl group record by charting in on the top ranks of US Billboard 200 for 5 consecutive weeks.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK was recently selected as the most influential Pop star by Bloomberg. They were the first Asian artists to top the list.
