TREASURE Ranked at No. 2 on the Billboard Social 50… K-Pop Dominates Top 10 Spots
[스타뉴스=윤상근 기자] YG’s rookie group TREASURE(CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, SO JUNG HWAN) was ranked at no.3 on the Billboard Social 50 chart, setting their own best record as well as proving their influence.
According to Billboard’s most recent charts on the 27th(KST), TREASURE was ranked at no. 3 on the Billboard Social 50 chart for August 29, 2020. TREASURE’s previous best record on the according chart was no. 5.
TREASURE is YG’s rookie group presented in 4 years since BLACKPINK and has received attention as a major rookie group targeting the global market. The title song ‘BOY’ from the group’s debut single album, ‘THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE’, topped iTunes Top Song charts in 19 different countries after its release, the Daily chart of Line Music, Japan’s biggest music streaming platform, and even China QQ Music’s Top Rising chart. They also achieved over 200 thousand album sales despite being a rookie group, proving that they are the biggest rookies among all who have made debut in K-Pop this year.
TREASURE also announced that their second release activities will happen in September. YG Entertainment explained, “TRASURE has begun shooting the MV for their second single, which will be a fiercer song than ‘BOY’”. They also added, “TREASURE is planning to continuously release new songs until the end of the year and keep active”.
Meanwhile, K-Pop groups performed very well on this week’s Billboard Social 50 chart.
Group BTS won their 193rd no. 1 on the Social 50 chart, while SB19, a K-Pop group composed of Philippine members, rose to no. 2, while TREASURE was ranked at no. 3. ATEEZ was ranked at no. 4, BLACKPINK at no. 5, Seventeen at no. 7, SuperM at no. 8, Tomorrow X Together at no. 9, while EXO was ranked at no. 10. The only non-K-Pop artist on the top 10 was Cardi B, ranked at no. 6.
