‘Global Popularity’ of BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’, At No. 1 on Music Charts for 20 Days
[텐아시아=우빈 기자] Group BLACKPINK’s popularity is still on fire, although 3 weeks has passed since they made comeback.
BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ kept its top spot on the 24Hits chart of Melon, the biggest music platform in Korea, as of July 15 at 9 AM. The song has kept its top spot for 20 days since its release last month on the 26th. In the midst of continuous new releases by other artists, the song also regained its no. 1 spot on Bugs’ real-time chart and Naver Music’s daily chart.
On Melon’s newly changed system (24Hits) which accumulates data within 24 hours to emphasize the actual ‘public’s pick’, BLACKPINK proved their unrivaled popularity.
The group’s global popularity still remains strong. ‘How You Like That’ was ranked at no. 91 on the US Billboard Hot 100 announced on the 14th(local time), maintaining its Top 100 position on the main singles chart for 2 consecutive weeks. The song was also ranked at no. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
After setting the best K-Pop girl group record history by entering the Billboard Hot 100 as no. 33, BLACKPINK set a meaningful record on the global stage with their pre-release digital single only, without promotional activities overseas.
BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ heated up the global music industry as soon as the song was released. The song topped iTunes charts in 64 countries, was ranked at no. 1 on Japan’s Line Music, and won 3 crowns on QQ Music, which is China’s biggest music platform.
The song set the best record on UK’s Official Singles Chart, one of the biggest Pop charts in the world along with US Billboard, as no. 20. It was also ranked at no. 2 on the Global Top 50 chart of Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming platform.
The song swept not only music charts, but also music broadcasts. Beginning with SBS ‘Inkigayo’, BLACKPINK won a total of 6 trophies on MBC M ‘Show Champion’, Mnet ‘M Countdown’, KBS2 ‘Music Bank’, and MBC ‘Show! Music Core’.
The ‘How You Like That’ MV is setting the first·best·biggest new records. The song became the ‘Most Watched YouTube Video in 24 Hours’ by reaching 86.3M views on the date of its release, as well as raising the status of K-Pop by being listed on 5 categories of the Guinness World Records. The song also became the fastest MV on YouTube to reach 100M and 200M views, achieved in 32 hours and 7 days, respectively. Since the video will soon reach 300M views, BLACKPINK’s new record march is expected to continue further.
