BLACKPINK Reaches 100M Views in 32 Hours, ‘A World Record’

According to YG Entertainment on the 28th, the MV for ‘How You Like That’, the pre-release title song of BLACKPINK’s first official album, surpassed 100M views on YouTube as of 2:23 AM. The record was achieved in approximately 32 hours since its release on the 26th at 6 PM and is the fastest record among all MVs uploaded on YouTube.
‘How You Like That’ captivated the global music fans as soon as the song was released. The song topped various Korean music charts including Melon, Bugs, and Genie, as well as topping iTunes charts in 61 different countries, including the US. Furthermore, the song topped Line Music and QQ Music, which are Japan and China’s largest music platforms respectively, and China Tencent’s real-time music chart, proving their global influence.
The number of BLACKPINK’s YouTube subscribers are also increasing rapidly. Their YouTube currently has 39M subscribers, which is the largest scale in Korea. The figure is the second biggest among all female artists in the world, following Ariana Grande. It proves BLACKPINK’s global influence and actual popularity index.
BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ is a Hip-hop track with vocals escalating in accordance to the emotional changes and an unexpected and explosive drop, which leave a strong impression to its listeners. The powerful beat that keeps on adding as the song progresses contains BLACKPINK’s message of ‘Let’s move forward and up despite any dark situations’.
Following their first comeback performance on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on the 26th(local time), the group is planning to appear on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ today(28th) to perform in front of Korean fans.
Meanwhile, the special edition of BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’, currently on pre-order, will be available through online and offline retailers nationwide, in addition to YG SELECT on July 17. The special edition CD will contain a total of 2 tracks, ‘How You Like That’ and its instrumental version. Furthermore, it has high possession value for the fans with its contents including a photobook consisted of 132 pages, a random polaroid, a random postcard, and a sticker poster. The initially produced copies will also include a double-sided poster.
