iKON Reaches ‘400M Views’… Steady Popularity of ‘LOVE SCENARIO’
[텐아시아=김수경 기자] The MV for iKON’s mega hit, ‘LOVE SCENARIO’, surpassed 400M views.
On June 18 at 12:30PM, iKON’s ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ MV surpassed 400M YouTube views. YG Entertainment uploaded a celebration poster through their official blog.
The title song ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ from iKON’s second album ‘Return’ was selected as the most popular MV among Korean users on YouTube back in 2018.
The song also set a milestone in music charts. The song topped real-time charts of major music streaming platform including Melon and Genie for 43 days, as well as dominating weekly charts for 6 consecutive weeks. Furthermore, the song won a total of 11 crowns in Korean music broadcasts.
The song also swept award ceremonies including ‘The 10th Melon Music Awards’, ‘2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards’, and ‘The 33rd Golden Disc Awards’, as well as being ranked at no. 1 on the ‘Weekly Song Rankings’ at the Line Music Awards with their live version of ‘LOVE SCENARIO’.
The song also received heated responses overseas. It topped iTunes Album charts in 17 different countries, topped the KPOP Weekly Chart of QQ Music, China’s biggest music platform, for 4 consecutive weeks, in addition to being ranked at no. 1 on Japan’s iTunes Album Comprehensive Chart.
There were also cover sensations on social media. People of all ages from kindergarten children to adults participated, grabbing the attention of many people. iKON also earned the nickname, ‘elementary school presidents’ since singing along to the song and uploading cover videos became very popular among elementary school students.
On June 13, the dance practice video of ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ surpassed 100M views, proving their steady global popularity.
iKON’s third mini album ‘i DECIDE’ released back in February topped iTunes Album charts in 24 different countries, proving the group’s unchanging global popularity. The group is currently working on their new album while connecting with the global fans through various contents.
