BANG YE DAM of YG TREASURE to Release His Solo Single ‘WAYO’ Today(5th), “Would Like to Become an Artist Who Gives Courage+Hope”
[헤럴드POP=천윤혜 기자] BANG YE DAM of YG’s rookie group ‘TREASURE’ will finally release his first solo single ‘WAYO’ today(5th).
While many fans’ expectations and curiosities have hit the highest point, YG Entertainment uploaded an interview video with BANG YE DAM through their official blog(www.yg-life.com) today at 9 AM.
The video showed BANG YE DAM’s childhood until now, as well as sincere stories regarding himself. There are also hints that allow the viewers to figure out the overall mood of ‘WAYO’.
◇ ‘Genius Vocalist’ BANG YE DAM, We Wonder About His Music
BANG YE DAM’s sincere yet calm confession dug into the viewers’ hearts. Him calmly reciting, “I would like to continue to do music. This is my goal” sounded thick and strong.
BANG YE DAM has always been with music. In fact, he grew up while going back and forth from recording studios and children song festivals since he was young. His parents have also sung theme songs for well-known animations and CM songs, which built up a music family.
BANG YE DAM stated, “It naturally got to me since my parents did music”. He added, “Music takes a very big portion of my life. I’m curious, want to dig deeper, and music just feels like a friend to me”.
After winning second place on ‘K-Pop Star’ back in 2012 as a 11-year old kid, BANG YE DAM received 7 years of training at YG. He became stronger after enduring the tempering which was not a short period of time.
However, BANG YE DAM looked back and stated, “My trainee years were fun. Talking to my friends and singing together. I tried a lot to improve myself during my long trainee years. They were proud moments”.
He also made an excited smile and continued, “I sometimes imagine a future with the members(TREASURE), smiling at each other. I think it will be really touching when all of us get on the same stage”.
◇ The ‘Full’ Soulful Emotions by BANG YE DAM, the Main Vocalist of TREASURE
BANG YE DAM is the main vocalist of ‘TREASURE’, the boy group being presented by YG in 5 years. Since ‘WAYO’ is part of TREASURE’s debut project and his solo single being presented as a surprise gift for the fans, the entire K-Pop scene is paying keen attention.
BANG YE DAM made a shy smile and explained, “I put in a lot of emotions into the song ‘WAYO’, which will soon be released. I tried to express the emotions of a one-sided love, trying to cling on and being a little desperate”.
At the end of the interview clip, the instrumental of ‘WAYO’ was revealed, allowing the viewers to guess how to song will sound like.
According to YG, the character of ‘WAYO’ is its minimal arrangement, which will allow the listeners to focus on BANG YE DAM’s unique vocals. The moment of a breakup being passed on by BANG YE DAM, who’s still a teenager, will be the underlying and repetitive question of ‘why’.
BANG YE DAM hoped, “When I look back at myself, I would like to be an artist who can give courage or hope, an artist who gives out positive influence although I may not be perfect in terms of skills”.
BANG YE DAM’s digital solo single ‘WAYO’ and its music video will be released today(5th) at 6 PM. It is expected that the anticipation on TREASURE’s full-member debut will rise even more along with the song’s release.
TREASURE, being regarded as YG’s next generation boy group that will follow BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON, has confirmed their upcoming debut in July. They are planning to release new songs in 3~4 turns until the end of the year.
Beginning at 4:30 PM today, an hour and 30 minutes prior to the release of ‘WAYO’, all 12 members of TREASURE will meet the fans through the ‘TREASURE PRE-DEBUT SPECIAL RELEASE COUNTDOWN LIVE’.
